Before co-founding Maven Law, Vernon was a Partner at a national family law firm, where he built a reputation for handling some of the most fiercely contested and financially complex family law matters. His background in business administration and finance makes him comfortable navigating cases involving intricate asset structures, business interests, and tax implications considerations. He is known as a strong litigator who stands firm against unreasonable positions and ensures that neither opposing parties nor the Court overlook his clients’ rights.
Early in his career, Vernon clerked in the Delaware Family Court for Judge Natalie J. Haskins and Judge Felice G. Kerr. He then worked alongside prominent Delaware family law practitioner, Kathryn J. Laffey, gaining practical insight into complex litigation strategy and the nuances of Delaware law. Vernon also represented parents involved with the Division of Family Services, which deepened his understanding of the complexities families face and strengthened his ability to advocate for vulnerable clients. These experiences shaped his steady and informed approach to representing families during sensitive and emotionally charged situations.
Vernon is deeply engaged in Delaware’s legal and local communities. He served as Chair of the Family Law Section of the Delaware State Bar Association (2024–2025), serves on nonprofit boards, and volunteers regularly with organizations such as the Lions Club and community centers throughout the region. His commitment to service, leadership, and professional excellence has been recognized nationally, including his selection to Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch (2025) for family law.
